Retinols and Acne

Most of us already know that retinol is great for its anti aging benefits but did you know it can also benefit those with acne? If you have treatment-resistant acne then retinol may be just what you need. By unclogging pores, retinol clears skin and prevents further outbreaks from occurring. Naturally, less acne will result in fewer acne scars. If you do have acne scars (aka post inflammatory hyperpigmentation), incorporating retinol will induce a constant renewal of cells which will reduce the pigmented lesions way quicker than just letting them fade. Plus, retinoids can amplify the effects of other medicated creams and gels, allowing you to get the maximum benefits of whatever treatments you're using. Our fave retinol combo to fight acne is using the Lāyers Complexion Correction pad first to exfoliate and destroy acne bacteria, then the retinol MVP resurfacing pads on top to stimulate the internal exfoliation.
