Summer treatments and products to avoid

Summertime & the livings easy 🌞🌊 β€” but you should adjust your treatment / skin regime accordingly folks! You want to avoid treatments and products that can cause major sun sensitivity resulting in hyperpigmentation and burns. As a rule of thumb, most lasers and chemical peels are postponed in the summer months and resumed again in the fall/winter when you don’t need to worry about extreme exposure. In particular, IPL is an effective treatment that removes pigmented sun spots so doing this when the sunny days are at the peak, makes the treatment redundant since anything you remove can come back 10 fold as soon as you are exposed. With chemical peels, the exfoliation is deep enough to reveal brand we fresh cells which are vulnerable to the sun. If you aren’t diligent enough with protecting this baby skin, you risk getting major pigmentations that can be difficult to remove. This also applies for homecare topicals such as acids like aha’s, bha’s, and retinols. If you are choosing to use them in the summer, be sure to use a high quality SPF 30 or above to prevent damaging photo sensitivity.
