The Fab Scab

Scabs are fabulous! These crusty human bandaids have a purpose and although ugly, they are important protective barriers for the healing wounds beneath. In particular, when we self inflict wounds by picking at our zits, the natural healing process kicks in and a scab will be created - which looks pretty gross under makeup let’s be honest. Now, we are all guilty of picking that scab off to smooth the canvas for a clean foundation application, but we are actually interfering with the healing process and can extend the healing time way longer. The scab will grow again to cover the area and sheds away when it’s ready to fall off. Early scab removal can cause scarring, bacteria entering the wound, hyperpigmentation and prolonged healing. So in short, respect your scab, it will flake when it wants to!
